Associate Speaker's Name in Transcript
in review
Melanie Tvete
In a transcription software I currently use (Otter.ai), It allows me to associate a create and associate a speaker's name to that part of a transcript. It does a pretty good job to recognize the voices so it will auto detect and select a name if I previously associated speaker 1 with my name and speaker 2 to the other person.
I would like to see names so it is easier to know who is talking in group calls or interviews.

Will McArthur Wisdom. ai user case that would also benefit from this.
So many of us have q&a session in hub and thats where some of our answers for searchie wisdom will live. So the ability to show who is speaking will enhance the wisdoms ability to choose the right parts of the q&q sessions and retrieve the gems

Will McArthur any update on this...it is causing a labour intensive work as we need to edit and download and then format transcripts in a usable form/more readable with speakers names and appropriate spacing and breaks and then re-uploading to searchie as a pdf for our members....that formatting is what they expect and the txt files won't cut it unfortunately.
Please tell me this is going to be bumped in priority soon!
Will McArthur
Tara Hunkin: Hey Tara! Thanks for reaching out.
At the moment we are focused on some other things, but this is definitely something on the list. I'll see what I can do to increase priority.

Will McArthur: :-) Thanks!

Will McArthur: This would be amazing to shortlist since it's clearly very needed and/or wanted by a ton of people. I really don't want to have to use additional services for this since I already pay for searchie. Otter does this, Firefly does this, and dozens more.

Paul Baron: Hey Paul!
Yes, I definitely agree... Right now, do you have to define who is each "speaker" in the transcript each time? I'll dive into those other platforms and see how they're doing it in the meantime.
Our issue with this has always been that it's complicated for the speaker information to persist across new uploads, but if you are fine with entering each speaker's name for every file when you want to add them to the transcript, this might be something we could go out with fairly quickly.
Paul Baron
Will McArthur: Hey Will! Sorry I'm just now replying, I really don't mind having to add in a speaker's name like in Fireflies each time.
Will McArthur
Paul Baron: Not a problem... This is kind of what I expected and will help us make this feature come true... Thank YOU!

Perhaps there could be a text colour difference between voices at least. Then we wouldnt' have to necessarily identify between names. May be just do black text and charcoal grey text.

Adobe Premier now has a beta that associates a speaker's name, too. It does a very good job, so the transcript always shows each speaker in the results.

In the transcripts, please create a new paragraph - or a blank line in the transcripts - between speakers. Now, everything runs together. Between now and the time we can associate a speaker's name with their comments, at least break up the comments in a way that makes some sense.

The editing features of otter.ai (as a free service) are hugely superior to the editing features that are available in searchie. I'm assuming they are using them as it looks/feels exactly the same as the Zoom transcript feature which uses otter too so I'm wondering if there is anyway to integrate the two and be able to use the otter.ai editing window - that would be awesome!!

Mindy Silva: I agree. My free Otter plan does a better job of transcribing most of the time than searchie too
