Replace/Swap File

In Vimeo, we occasionally use the option to replace a video. We've used this a couple of times when a needed edit was missed at first. It would be super helpful if Searchie could detect and sync this replacement. Or if necessary, if there was some other way we could prompt Searchie to replace the current video with the newly edited video.

Release notes will be published later today, but in the meantime check out our documentation on this feature here:

Merged in a post:
Ability to update a file with a new version
Kathleen Sinnott
It would be really helpful if we could update a file we uploaded to Searchie (video, PDF, txt, whatever) instead of having to upload a new one when a new version is available.
For example, if a video gets updated today, we have to upload it as new, add all the elements (thumb, tags, etc.) and then manually hunt down where it was used, delete the old, and then replace it with the new one. Lots of room for error here.

Will McArthur and Team Searchie --
I wanted to share this so you have context for why this feature gap is so extremely time consuming.
Because I can't swap Searchie files, and I provide training for software that changes 2-3x per month, here's the solution I've had to come to rely on -- and it takes hours every week to keep this thing updated.
I sincerely appreciate your willingness to carefully consider what we're requesting.

Will McArthur
Bryan Bennett - TeamKickstart.com: Yeah for sure... Definitely understand the use case as a company that also does training on software that frequently receives updates 😉 . Let me see if we have any options here to introduce something simpler in the meantime.
Bryan Bennett - TeamKickstart.com
@ALL OF SEARCHIE TEAM: Hey - this has zero attention and no movement. Can you give me the inside scoop -- is this even being considered? I need to drastically adjust my content strategy if this is not on Searchie's near-term radar. It's becoming extremely overwhelming.
A sincere ask from a client that has paid your company $8K so far -- me. Not trying to be snarky at all. Just a sincere plea.
Will McArthur
Bryan Bennett - TeamKickstart.com: Hey Bryan! Yeah, we are definitely still figuring out where this fits into the roadmap. The update would be a little more exhaustive, though, and maybe introduce some other elements to our Library that would allow you to upload non-video content to Searchie directly. Think of it as a larger overhaul to how files are treated/considered in general, that's how we would likely achieve this.
Still ironing out the details, but keep an eye on this thread for more information when it's available.
Dave Hartman
Will McArthur: Thanks for the update. Please make this a priority as being able to replace a video while keeping everything else associated with it the same is huge.
Bryan Bennett - TeamKickstart.com
Will McArthur: I can appreciate the idea of this being part of a larger overhaul -- but considering it's such an extremely time consuming a laborious aspect of Searchie -- I hope you'll consider being a more agile software team and roll this out as a smaller, sooner release. Thanks for your reply.
