Hey all! We would love to hear some of your thoughts on this feature and the ideal way for you to make use of it. Drop your thoughts below and, if you can, give us an example of the most basic version of this feature that would be usable and functional. Feel free to contact me directly, will@searchie.io, with any additional thoughts or simply tag me in your response!

Yes, this would be really helpful. Ideally, i would love to upload a long video and then ask questions / type queries and Searchie to suggest specific times / clips in the video and then be able to quickly trim / export those clips

We would find this feature of trimming out (copying out excerpts) nuggets, trimming start and end, also cutting out [potentially] several sections from within, plus adding pre and post clips very helpful, whilst KEEPING the original video especially if it did not require re-transcription/transcoding processing. Beyond the basic, these additional features would be useful:
1) ability to add an image/PDF in between for variable length of time.
2) ability to add text box (for example to correct a verbal error.)
3) ability to add small image on top of the video. eg if a book is mentioned an image of the cover could be pasted in the corner.
4) have transitions to choose from eg cross-fade, zoom in/out, varying duration, so it does not appear jarring.
5) ability to mute a portion eg to remove profanity, unwanted noise
6) ability to add elements eg arrows, including self-curving arrows.
7) ability to add additional sound track of music/voice over.

Have you seen the app Veed? It makes it so easy to edit videos. I have tried other software and its the only one that makes it easy. Would be great to upload videos automatically and be able to cut sections in the middle, beginning and end.

Will McArthur: Looks great! My only question is the "Save as New File"--so this isn't a non-destructive action, then? In other words, I can't come back later and move those end points out, because they will no longer exist, correct? I've seen it done where the file remains intact and the app just starts and stops the playtime at the set in and out points. That way, you don't have duplicate files, etc. On the other hand, users might like a new file created so they can destroy the old and save space.
Will McArthur
Christopher Maselli: That's right, it would be a "non-destructive" option and the path of least resistance. You could delete the original file afterwards if you want, but this way we wouldn't need to worry about creating versions of the file for you to revert to if you want.
Christopher Maselli
Will McArthur: So does "Save as New File" then really just create a "ghost" file that looks like a file but is the original? Like that idea.
Will McArthur
Christopher Maselli: Idea is that it would create a brand new file in your account, without using up any upload/storage, of course. So you would have [Original File] and the [Trimmed Version] next to each other in the library, treated separately.
Christopher Maselli
Will McArthur: Got it. That works! Looking forward to this. I have SO MANY videos I don't want to have to reexport as trimmed. Would love to just trim what I have in there.

Will McArthur: Watching the product update video. This is a phenomenal update! I especially like the integration with Copilot, that would completely replace any need for Vidyo.ai. One thing I would find important for that would be the ability to add a pre-roll video and post-roll video so that the Copilot produced promo clips could have a stinger and then a CTA at the end.
Speaking of CTA, would be super cool to then capture an email at the end of the video :)
Will McArthur
Ryan White: yes, CTAs!
We definitely have some concepts in the works for better CTA capabilities on the player... though email capture is a new one.
Here is a post for CTAs on the player: https://feedback.searchie.io/content-library/p/cta-option-on-watch-pagevideo-player

Will McArthur: Looking great Searchie! - Would really appreciate being able to cut out multiple sections of the video with a simple cross fade in between.

Will McArthur As far as the most basic feature, I'd REALLY like to see the ability to have a video start and end at specific times rather than play the full length of the video. As a for instance, when uploading a Facebook Live video, if the Live doesn't start until 2:13 in, I'd like the ability to just have the video start there. It doesn't need to edit the video; just make it start where I specify. Likewise, sometimes I have old podcasts with an ad intro and outro that's out of date. Rather than have to re-edit those old videos, it would be nice to just have it start after and stop before those ads.
Will McArthur
Christopher Maselli: Yup, totally agree! We are actually working on getting this into development soon... So stay tuned for updates.

Will McArthur: As an example the devs might want to look at, Dubb does a great job with this. When you have your video behind the scenes, you can pause it at any point and then click the "Set" buttons to set the in and out ponts. Really easy even on a simple editor. Here's a screenshot:

Christopher Maselli: hmm… almost like they have access to our wireframes 😉

Love to see ability to clip out "nuggets" not just trim beginning and end, but clip out a segment.

Would love to see a basic trim feature. I just uploaded a video and forgot to trim the first minute off. Now I'll have to trim & re-upload.

I did comment on another similar post, but I would love the ability to be like Descript, where you can automatically get rid of uhms and ers and trim the videos by editing the transcript. Also, by adding your own custom clip to the beginning or end and cutting out scenes where you're starting/stopping the video etc
