Upload Searchable Text & Other Document Types
in development
Paul Bussey
This would provide another great medium for the Searchie platform. You could create PDF libraries that could provide added value for customers.
This request encompasses the ability to upload documents to Searchie that are not a video or audio file, as well as the ability to search the text in the library & Hubs. We will split those two things up if need be in the future. - Will

New update has gone live:
All attachments on your audio and video content are now stored in your Library, and you can attach documents directly from your Library to your content.
Still on the To Do list is adding documents to playlists and adding documents directly to Hub Sections. As well as having the text inside of documents something that is searchable in the Library and Hubs.

Hate to bug, but any update on being able to search text? I am working on moving all my content over from kajabi/mighty networks to Searchie, but I will need text to be searchable since we have 100s of blog-style articles that we want to include in addition to our video content. Would love to know if this text searchability will be available soon so we can plan our rollout. Loving searchie so for though!!

Hey Searchie Team - Will you be adding the ability to 'Replace' (as is possible with media files) so that the document retains its location in playlists etc?
Will McArthur
AliM: That is a great question! It would be the goal, absolutely. The way we have built documents (and files in general) is that they are essentially a container that can be replaced with any type of content. This will allow us to swap out documents with new ones using the replace feature.

Will McArthur: This is fantastic! Will those documents appear in search results?
Will McArthur
Melinda Andrus: Still working on that... but closing in on it as well. Updating my message here to put that under To Do.
AliM
Will McArthur: Keep up the great work Team Searchie!
Document List: Would like to be able to show docs in a list similar to the example here.

Will McArthur: Yay!! I can't wait!
AliM
Will McArthur: Signed up and ready to test. Also hoping this includes the ability to search the 'page' text (headline/paragraph elements) in the Hubs
Will McArthur
AliM: That would be considered a different feature... but an interesting one for sure. This will include the ability to search inside of PDF/TXT/other doc types in the Hub, but searching text on pages is a bit different. I would recommend posting another feature request for that.

Will McArthur: oh I assumed this request encompassed text in descriptions of videos too! That’s definitely a very needed gesture because currently only bringing up search results via titles and transcripts leaves a LOT of content not found. My members are constantly giving feedback about searches not bringing up what they’re looking for because the keyword they’ve used isn’t the same vocab I’ve used. I’m writing keyword rich descriptions to try and help but it currently doesn’t bring up anything within descriptions.
Will McArthur
Casey Patch: This is really good to know! Let me make a note of this and see if there isn't something we can do. Would the hope be that in the Hub search results, you see a new "type" of result called "Descriptions" to go along with "Titles" "Chapters" and "Keywords"?
Will McArthur
AliM Casey Patch check out this request here: https://searchie.canny.io/hubs/p/search-for-file-description-attachment-title-or-file-tag
I think this would handle your idea, and is already very popular.
Casey Patch
Will McArthur: ohh yeah that would make sense! There could even be a new 'type' for attachments when those become searchable too.

Will McArthur: This is wonderful, and hopefully the file types will include SVG and STL files as well! Would love to be a part of the beta!

SEARCH TEXT ON HUB PAGES: @Will McArthur - what is the update on this? We really need our audience to have the ability to see results based on a search which includes the text on our hub pages. This should be included as part the current search bar feature (which currently only returns media results for content they have access to - filenames and transcript occurrences). Is that capability part of this development?

I use Word docs for my client handouts. The handouts are primarily worksheets where they write out answers to questions. Being able to write directly in the doc (versus having a "barrier to entry" of printing it out or using a pdf writer) is super helpful for accessibility for my neurodivergent clients. Fingers crossed word docs will be included in this. Thanks so much!

I'm looking for this > https://www.chatfast.io/#how-it-works Share a URL, import all blog and FAQ content and then have a conversational AI bot share content based on a query.
Will McArthur
Steve Hutt: This would be closer to the Sitemap feature, which is close to release as well :).
