Record System Audio

Mike Indovina
I'd love to have the ability to record system audio (in stereo) along with my microphone and webcam. I use loom to make video walkthroughs of music recordings and having the background audio is a huge part of the videos. I'm sure other people would use it to include background music or to play video files too.

Yes, this is majorly needed for recording my students music lessons and be able to upload them directly into searchie with the extension.

I figured it out you have to record from the tab only and choose the toggle. I have it working now. Thanks.

Hey Mike Indovina, if you switch from Full Screen to Tab, you'll see an option to "Record Tab Audio". Can you try this out and let us know how it goes?

Will McArthur: Just tried it and it didn't work :(
I have run tests using both full screen and tab mode and it is seems like there is some major compression happening on the audio. It sounds like it's trying to pick up the audio but the end result fluctuates in volume quite frequently and sounds like really poor quality.

Mike Indovina: Hmm, okay, thanks for this. Sounds like a bug though. Shouldn't the tab audio be able to capture what you're looking to do or am I missing the point?

Will McArthur: Ideally, it would record the full screen so I could show my recording software while having my webcam. If you want, I can send you a video I made detailing my settings so you can hear what it's sounding like

Mike Indovina: Would you be able to post a short video in this thread? Ultimately the Tab audio should be sufficient in the meantime, but we can look into getting a more robust audio recording on the roadmap

Will McArthur: Here you go. This is the same setup I use with Loom and Zoom and it seems to work on those platforms without issues: https://app.searchie.io/watch/M32gQzGeNo

Thanks!
