More Granular Search Filters

When searching through media it could be interesting to filter by view count and retention rate.
Thanks

Working through the requirements here now. What are the most important filters to add to the basic Hub search functionality?
Right now:
Tags
Playlists
Duration?
Upload Date?

Will McArthur: I know that there's a Most (or last) watched ... but, on the lines of upload 'date' (users might not know the date) so how about 'latest video added'? And/OR updated Playlist (aka new content).
Will McArthur
Phillis Benson: I guess there are two things here... Filtering, which would be actually removing results from the Search page. And Sorting, which would be reorganizing the list of results based on the criteria you've listed. I've made a note for another update to introduce sorting by:
Most Watched
New
Trending (Most Watched in Last Week)

Will McArthur: For me, it's basic search terms. I have a dog training membership and for example, if a video is called "puppy training intro" in my membership and someone just types in "training intro", it won't come up. It sees like it has to be the exact wording for the search to work properly & of course most customers wont know the exact names
Will McArthur
Paws Up Dogs: Hmm... This to me sounds like a bug. If the term is contained anywhere in the title of the video OR found in the transcription, it should appear in the Hub search results. I have just confirmed this works normally on my end. In your above example, as long as "training intro" is in the title of the video it should show in the results. If you're not experiencing this, please reach out to help@searchie.io so we can get investigating for you :)

Will McArthur: For us Playlists being added to the search results would make a big difference. They would be more important than individual videos since the videos are lessons that make up a course which is the playlist.
Or if, when videos are shown in the search results, we could see which playlists they are a part of so that context can be given to the individual video and the video as a part of the playlist could be chosen ie. when you click on the video you're taken to the video within the context of the playlist rather than straight to the individual video.
Hope that makes sense.

Will McArthur: searching by tag would be so handy. It would be amazing if they could filter out specific tags or checkbox tags to only bring up items that have those particular tags.
User case: We tag play ideas by age, category (like art, literacy etc). It would be amazing if they could go to the search and select checkboxes that
only
brought up videos that were appropriate for the age/tag chosen. Being able to sort the 'tags' for the filtering so we could organise the filters into groups like Age, Category, Video duration etc. Even conditional filters like 'all' and 'any' for those tags if it makes sense. Attaching some screenshots from a site I use to show you what I mean - those 'checkboxes' would be tags I'm assuming. The other big one which probably doesn't fit into this request - bringing up content that has the search term in the description is very very needed. I make sure my descriptions are keyword rich and add different search terms so that when descriptions are finally searchable, people can find what they need a lot easier.

Casey Patch: Yes- I think descriptions and other text being searchable in the Hub would be great. It's a bit separate but definitely related.
Renae: We have an update in the works for showing which playlist content belongs to as well. It will be separate from this update but it's something else we've been working towards.
Thank you all for this feedback!

Will McArthur:
Several Tags: If we can filter by selecting several tags that would be great. For example one of our tags is 'Presenter' so they could chose that tag plus other topical tags to limit the results. As well as applying the other filter suggestions, which you mentioned, in any combination.
Group Tags: If we could group tags together in a list, which would appear as a heading (eg 'Presenter' tags, or 'Live Events vs Online events' ) that would be super awesome - realise that might be the next phase though.
Limited view: I would love the search results to return all files and some with a 'shaded out/limited/teaser' view if they don't have access (based on audience tag for that file).

It would be fabulous if I could make a search widget to search files instead of videos. Or as others suggested maybe tags would work. I'm going to outgrow searchie soon without this feature!
Casey Patch
Being able to filter searches by tags or even filter a playlist with a dropdown would be so handy. So for example, I have a play list of art and craft ideas but it would be cool if there was a drop down that allowed them to filter and just show the ones tagged with toddlers for example!

Recommended Search Terms
Robin
Ability to create recommended search terms.
Works in two ways:
- Searchie auto-generates search terms based on ALL users recent Searches, and these are displayed under the search bar. They regularly update.
- Admins can purposely add terms, and these are displayed under the search bar. These are static and only changed by Admins.
Terms could be expressed as questions, to create an on-screen faq.
Clicking on terms could show a pre-defined list of clips, or AI can produce the list.

I'm searching how to edit recordings on videos created in extension in hubsxhubs. Townhalls pop up, but no further specific search is working. can you post a front page to each video thumbnail itemizing what is actually covered in each one? Still not finding answer to this basic question.
Paulina Gusciora
Hey Ann Brucker,
I am merging your post as we have another similar feature request that I think would help with this use case: search filters in the search bar.
Currently, there is no way to edit recordings in Searchie. You can vote on this feature request here: https://searchie.canny.io/platform/p/trim-media

Searching tags in widget
Ryan Bringhurst
Widget only works if you are speaking in your videos. Not all of my videos am I speaking. It would be so helpful if the search feature in the widget could include the ability to search tags that are applied to videos.
Thanks! You guys are amazing!
